Heroes of Arkesia,

The Arkesia Ignited Update arrives on October 9, heralding the beginning of a new age for new and veteran players alike. The time for the Allied Forces to gather in North Kurzan and unite in battle against Kazeros’ demonic legions has arrived. The battle in North Kurzan will serve as the entry point to Tier 4 (T4), Lost Ark’s endgame evolution, which introduces a multitude of new endgame systems for players to power up before facing the many challenges on the near horizon.

The vast array of new gear, systems, and abilities aren’t the only thing that will help you power up to face Kazeros’ forces — reinforcements are also critical to overcoming the demonic hordes. To bolster the ranks of players ready to enter Tier 4, a special progression event arrives in the form of Ignite Servers. These special servers will quickly level players up to 1620 and give them the tools to enter the fray. Additionally, to give players a major power increase in Tier 4, Hyper Awakenings will also be included in this update!

Downtime will begin on October 9 at 12 a.m. PT (7 a.m. UTC) and is expected to last 15 hours. Dive into the full list of new content, events, skins, and other changes along with a special episode of "Patch Notes with Henry," or read through all the details below. With the biggest update ever released for Lost Ark in the West, there’s a lot to uncover!

North Kurzan

204 KB
114 KB

A new continent arrives with new adventures, quests, activities, and much more. Kurzan was overwhelmed by the Demon Legion and the Chaos Guardians, ushering Arkesia toward the imminent revival of Kazeros. In the events that took place in Elnead, the Assar's Land was liberated, and the Allied Forces have begun to gather.

The Antares volcano writhes in furious turmoil, venting plumes of ash from its smoldering depths. Amidst this molten crucible, the final battle to decide Arkesia's destiny will rage with cataclysmic force.

Beginning the story of North Kurzan will require a character at Item Level 1600 or above, and requires the completion of the South Kurzan world quest, Kazeros Raid Overture prologue quest, and Epic Raid Behemoth prologue quest.

North Kurzan includes a vast variety of new content:

  • Field Boss: Sevek Atun

    • Drops valuable collectibles, including an Enlightenment point potion and a new collectible: Bloodclaw’s Chart

      • Includes recent changes in Korea to increase the drop rate

    • Rebalanced for the Western version of Lost Ark to Item Level 1640

  • North Kurzan Ocean Liner added

  • Adventurer's Tome updated

  • 1 Ignea Token added, expanded rewards

  • Wandering Merchant 'Colvin' added

  • New 1640+ Chaos Gate added

    • Includes new rewards, such as a new Skill Rune

  • Trade updates:

    • 2 new alchemy items

    • 4 new Tier 4 trade skill yields

    • 9 new World Tree Leaves

  • New emote: Dust Off

  • 27 new achievements

  • 8 new titles

  • Mokoko Seed added

  • Memory Tome updated

  • The addition of the North Kurzan Knowledge Transfer

New Activities

Along with providing new quests and adventures, North Kurzan will also serve as the entry point to Tier 4. Once you’ve completed North Kurzan, you’ll be able to enter Tier 4 and unlock the Kurzan Front and Kenuart Fortress.

  • Kurzan Front is a new type of hack-and-slash content similar to Chaos Dungeons. It consumes 100 Aura of Resonance, so you’ll only need to enter once a day. Two dungeons will be added, at Item Level 1640 (Abidos 1 Operation) and 1660 (Abidos 2 Operation).

  • Kenuart Fortress is a new dungeon that you can challenge alone or in a 4-player party. It requires Item Level 1620, and can be entered any number of times! Kenuart Fortress lets you earn Tier 4 Relic equipment, ensuring a smooth transition. The first time you defeat a boss in Kenuart Fortress each day, you’re guaranteed to get a Tier 4 gear selection chest; additional chests can be earned as drops.

  • Argeos Guardian Raid is the first Tier 4 Guardian Raid, added to the Purification Level 2 Tab at Item Level 1640. Along with Tier 4 Honing Materials, Argeos can drop Epic Rune "Vision". New achievements, an Argeos Card, and title will also be available.

Kazeros War Map

Players can access the Kazeros War Map system after clearing the North Kurzan main quest, "The Path to Take". Players can swap the content UI between T3 main content, T3 content guide, and the T4 Kazeros War Map. Supporting systems have been added, including related guide quest, new achievements, and the contribution system. Contribution system applies to the Kurzan Front, T4 Guardian Raids, and Kazeros/Epic Raids, which all grant contribution XP. Contributions awards players with medals and rewards! Contribution Awards provide useful effects in related content, such as damage increases and additional HP. Each content has a different effect!

Ignite Servers

189 KB
90 KB

One Ignite Server will be added to each region, with the goal of rapidly arming a group of reinforcements with the gear, skills, and knowledge to enter the battle against Kazeros at their own accelerated pace. All the materials and items a player needs to reach 1620 will be granted to them by the variety of events in Ignite Servers. The Ignite Servers will not be monetized, apart from players being able to purchase some cosmetic options. The primary goal for Ignite Servers are to teach players the basics of Lost Ark in a special environment, quickly letting participants learn about key systems, how to build a character, and how to challenge foes either by themselves in Solo Raids, or with other new recruits in group raids. Matchmaking will be isolated to only include other Ignite participants.

Players will begin their journey at Voldis, as if they’ve completed the Voldis World Quests, equipped with Item Level 1540 Gear, at Combat Lv. 60, and possessing many Runes (including Legendary) except from those gained from the Tower and Collectible Point rewards.

From that starting point, players will have a special progression event with buffs and new UI systems built to guide them through building their character and the leveling experience, granting a monumental level of support to quickly reach Item Level 1620. This tailored experience is specially constructed to serve as a bootcamp, which will let players graduate at their own pace. While the servers will be active for 7 weeks, an active player striving to enter the fray will be able to do so in just a few weeks.

On Ignite Servers, the Market and Auction houses will be disabled. As mentioned previously, all the materials and items a player needs to reach 1620 will be granted to them by the variety of events in Ignite Servers. Not every experience in Arkesia will be available to challenge on Ignite Servers. Players will need to transfer to a legacy server to challenge threats at Item Level 1620, such as Echidna, Behemoth, North Kurzan, and Tier 4. Players can graduate to conquer these experiences when joining the ranks of veteran players.

Ignite Server participants will be able to create up to 6 characters on the Ignite Server to try different playstyles, but only one can be transferred to join the fight on a regular server. When a player is ready transfer, they will be given a generous cache of rewards and deposited in the frontlines of battle, ready to challenge the legions of Kazeros.

Tier 4 Progression Systems

138 KB
67 KB

Lost Ark’s endgame evolution arrives, updating player progression, gearing, and paths to power.

Gear Progression

Tier 4 Relic Gear can be earned from the Kenuart Fortress, and through Gear Transfer, will be converted to Tier 4 Gear, requiring new honing materials to complete honing and advanced honing. When T3 gear is transferred to T4, Artisan's Energy, Honing XP, and the honing - failure success rate bonus won't be transferred, but Advanced Honing and Quality information will be transferred. However, Advanced Honing T4 Gear will require T4 honing materials. The new honing materials are:

  • Destiny Leapstone

  • Destiny Destruction & Guardian Stone

  • Destiny Shards

  • Abidos Fusion Material

Tier 4 honing materials have been added to material exchange NPC, allowing conversion from T3 to T4 for every material other than Destiny Shards. Tier 4 honing materials have been added to the bloodstone shop, Echidna Normal/Hard, and Behemoth.

Additional Tier 4 Honing Materials include:

  • Lava's Breath and Glacier's Breath

  • Special Honing: Circulated Leapstone

T4 Ancient Gear will be available later on, in the Aegir Raid.

Accessories

Tier 4 Accessories have been added. Relic accessories will be obtainable from Kurzan Front (Abidos 1 / 2 Operations), Echidna, the Argeos Guardian Raid, and Aegir (At 1660+ when it releases later this month). Accessories no longer provide engraving nodes, and instead offer stat increases and Ark Passive Enlightenment points (more about that below).

A new accessory refining system arrives for upgrading accessories, and accessories can be traded before, during, or after being upgraded through the refining system. This system allows all equipped accessories to have 3 rows of additional stats that can be rolled at random for additional stat bonuses. Each accessory type (necklace/earring/ring) had particular refining effects that are unique to that item, with rarities tied to a percentage chance to acquire when refining — similar to how bracelets have functioned. You will be able to see the full list of effects at the refining NPC in major cities. Refining will require luminous gem shards, earned by dismantling T4 accessories, and gold.

New Guide Quests and a related NPC have been added to teach players how to use the new system.

Engraving Updates

In Tier 4, you can equip five combat engravings, and level them up individually with Engraving Recipes, which now, instead of enhancing the nodes of the engraving, directly impact the bonus that the engraving provides. Relic engraving books are added in Tier 4, which give the highest value increase. Rare engraving recipes have been removed, and any remaining recipes will be replaced with epic recipes.

Ability Stone nodes will also enhance the effect of the engraving (with 4 available levels) rather than providing nodes toward an engraving. Ability Stones will instead have levels that can be achieved based on the number of nodes cut. Level 1 is unlocked at 6 nodes, level 2 at 7, level 3 at 9, and level 4 at 10 nodes, which provides the biggest bonus. Additionally, if the total faceting level effect is over 5, a faceting level bonus effect will be applied which grants base Atk, Power +1.5%. Tier 3 Stones can be transferred to T4.

Class Engravings will be moved into the new Ark Passive System, and now functioning similar to a skill tree, with various impactful options that further customize the Class’s playstyle. Players can switch between the T3 and T4 engraving system by turning the Ark Passive off and on.

Gems

T4 gems (Doomfire Gems and Blazing Gems) have been added. Only characters Item Level 1640 and above can equip T4 gems.

  • T4 Gems also increase base Attack Power.

  • New effects have been added to Doomfire gems for support classes, such as Ally Heal bonus, Ally Shield bonus, Atk. Power bonus for all allies, Damage bonus for all allies.

T3 gems can be converted to T4. When transferred, gems converting to T4 will down level two levels from their old level. For example, a T3 level 10 Gem will transfer into a T4 level 8 Gem. Gems will stay the same type and skill when transferred (cooldown reduction to cooldown reduction, and damage increase to damage increase) but the effect figures will be changed.

  • Added a gem comparison tooltip to display when an unequipped gem item tooltip is displayed and the player has a gem equipped that meets all of the conditions, allowing players to compare the two gems.

  • Changed to allow gems to be swapped regardless of the tier/level of the gem, even if players are currently equipped with the same effect.

  • Added a warning popup to display if the base effect of the gem that is being replaced has a lower effect than the currently equipped gem.

  • Changed so that gems no longer have their effectiveness reduced when lower-tier gems are equipped with higher-tier accessories.

  • Tier 3 gem effects will not be reduced when progressing through Tier 4 content.

  • Changed so that, when summoning the Fuse Gems window with a character who has reached Item Lv. 1640 or higher, the Select Target Level now displays gem tiers by level with Tier 4 as the standard.

Ark Passive

Ark Passive is a new way to approach building your character, overhauling many of the character build systems in Tier 3 and adding new effects. In Tier 4, key stats (like crit, swift, and spec), Gear set effects, Class engravings, and more will be added into the Ark Passive. Ark Passive effects are only available after the effects are turned on, and can be turned on after completing the North Kurzan main quest. Players can open the Ark passive UI via the Character information UI or by pressing the hot key [.]. When the Ark Passive is turned on, the new engraving and ability stone system will be applied. When Ark passive is turned on, the following effects will be deactivated:

  • Battle stats, Gear set effect, T3 engraving effect

It comes with three key tabs. The basic stats and effects replacing gear sets are in the (Evolution) tab, class specialization (Enlightenment) tab, and Hyper Awakenings along with Hyper Awakening Skills (Leap) tab. These can be upgraded by connecting the nodes in the UI that resembles a Skill Tree, to fully customize your playstyle.

Ark Passive Points can be earned from a multitude of sources to further level up the effects, including Tier 4 Gear, Tier 4 accessories, increasing your combat level, and more! For example, Evolution gives 1 point every time your combat level increase after level 51. You can also increase it with your gear, with points coming from both Relic and Ancient gear. Tier 4 Accessories have points and the point is proportion to the accessories quality, and additional ones from refining them further.

Evolution Points

  • 1 point per level past Combat level 51

  • Equipping Tier 4 gear (Relic and Ancient Gear give different amounts of points)

  • Evolution Passive has max points can be used in each tier:

    • Tier 1: Evolution Point max 40

    • Tier 2: Evolution Point max 30

    • Tier 3: Evolution Point max 20

    • Tier 4: Evolution Point max 30

Enlightenment Points

  • Equipping Tier 4 Accessories, which have various point amounts

  • Consuming enlightenment point potions earned through various activities, such as a random drop from the North Kurzan Field Boss

Leap Points

  • 2 points per level past Combat level 51

  • With a future update, you'll be able to get points through the T4 bracelet and Karma system

Hyper Awakenings

92 KB

Overview & Unlocking

Hyper Awakenings are a new major power increase for every class in Lost Ark. There are two power upgrades included in the system:

  • Hyper Awakenings - significantly enhances the power of the Awakening Skills in Lost Ark.

  • Hyper Awakening Skills - new skills added for each class, which can be used with a separate key in a new skill slot. The skills can be acquired as rewards after clearing quests, and can be strengthened by fulfilling certain conditions.

Hyper Awakening skills are new skill acquired simultaneously with the Hyper Awakening.

  • Each class can earn 2 Hyper Awakening skills, other than Gunslinger/Deadeye which receive 3 skills.

  • Players can receive the Hyper Awakening Quest from the "Mysterious light" NPC in the city. Prerequisites for the quest:

    • Item Level 1640

    • Combat Level 60

    • Complete North Kurzan Main quest "The Path to Take"

    • Complete Awakening Quest - [Awakening] The Sunset or [Awakening] Memories of the Journey

  • Once players clear the main Hyper Awakening Quest, they can acquire their Hyper Awakening and Hyper Awakening skills. The main quest is roster quest and other characters in the roster can proceed the shortened quest to earn the Hyper Awakening.

Hyper Awakenings

Hyper Awakening adds a new gauge around the Awakening that needs to be charged, and then can be used when the gauge is filled — providing an exceptionally powerful bonus effect to the Awakening. The gauge increases slowly when characters are in battle, and also by landing skills on enemy targets. The Hyper Awakening can be activated by pressing "Alt + V", but players can change the bound hotkey. Even if the Hyper Awakening gauge is full, players can use their normal Awakening skills by using their Awakening hotkey — allowing them to find the perfect time to unleash their Hyper Awakening Skill.

  • When users use the Hyper Awakening, the number of uses of Awakening Skills would be used and share the same cool time.

    • If users spent all number of uses of Awakening Skills, users cannot use the Hyper Awakening.

    • If the gauge is full but the Awakening skill is on cooldown, characters cannot use the Hyper Awakening.

  • Hyper Awakening can be used only once per each area or contents gate.

    • The gauge won't increase if users have already used the Hyper Awakening.

    • The number of Hyper Awakening uses reset when moving between areas or moving into a Battle Workshop.

  • When players use the Hyper Awakening, the number of available Awakening skill uses will be deducted by one use.

  • When a player is using the Hyper Awakening they are invincible.

    • After the end of Hyper Awakening, the invincible status persists for 1 second.

    • However, this does not shield the character from wipeout mechanics in various boss fights.

  • The damage of the Hyper Awakening is proportional to the player’s base attack power, and the damage of the Hyper Awakening can only be increased through increasing the base attack power and through Hyper Awakening damage increase effects.

Hyper Awakening Skills

New skills added for each class, which can be used with a separate key in a new skill slot (default is “T”). These skills function as new skill slot, very similar to other skills. The use of Hyper Awakening Skills consumes class-specific resources, such as mana. Hyper Awakening Skills can be used at any point in time without any conditions (apart from resources and cooldowns).

  • The Hyper Awakening Skills don't have Tripods and skill points are not used.

  • Hyper Awakening Skills cannot use gems or runes.

  • Some passive effects of Ark Passive 'Enlightenment' are not applicable to Hyper Awakening Skills.

General

  • There are various places that Hyper Awakenings and Hyper Awakening Skills cannot be used.

    • Hyper Awakenings cannot be used in:

      • PvE Content using the Book of Coordination, such as Inferno Mode

      • General Areas, such as North Kurzan

      • PvP Fields, such as Rowen.

    • 2 Hyper Awakening achievements per each class

    • 2 Hyper Awakening skills achievements per each class, apart from Deadeye and Gunslinger, which have 3 Hyper Awakening Skills achievements.

PvP Updates

Combat challenges go beyond the fight for Arkesia this month with new PvP improvements and updates coming to the Proving Grounds!

1v1 ‘Three Champions’ Mode

A new 1v1 based match mode called ‘Three Champions’ has been added to the Proving Grounds. In this mode, players will select 3 characters from their Roster to battle against other players in a 1v1 relay.

Set Up

After setting up the 'Book of Coordination' on three different characters in a player's Roster, competitors can register for Three Champions mode through boards in major cities, or by using the ‘Proving Grounds’ button located under the minimap.

Once three characters are selected, players can press the 'Start Match' button to enter the Proving Grounds and select the fighting order of their champions. Before readying up, players can also change their Book of Coordination presets. Once the 'Ready' button is pressed, characters orders and presets will be locked in for the coming match.

Match Rules

The first player to win three 1v1 rounds will be the the match winner.

The first character in each player’s lineup will take to the field first. Just like in Team Elimination matches, a character that wins a round can continue on fighting the next round.

Each round has a time limit of 100 seconds. A player will a round win after taking out the enemy character. If both characters are standing after the time expires, the character with more HP will win.

After losing a round, the next character in line will automatically enter the field. The winning character’s HP will be healed based on the time remaining.

The Proving Grounds Penalty System will also be applied in this mode, so fight fairly!

Champion Points System (1v1 ‘Three Champions’ Mode Exclusive)

Characters will fill their ‘Champion Meter’ as time goes by in battle, when a dealing or taking damage, or when using certain skills. When the meter fills up enough, players will earn a ‘Champion Point.’ Players can expend their accumulated Champion Points to get combat-related buffs.

Champion Points can be spent to use the following effects:

  • Awakening Skill (1 Champion Point) - Players will only be able to use Awakening Skills by expending a Champion Point.

  • Champion Buff (2 Champion Points) – This buff reduces the cooldowns for all skills except for Awakening, movement, and stand up skills by 4 seconds. This buff can be activated by pressing ‘G’, but players will not be able to use the key when the character is performing an action.

  • Stand Up Cooldown Reset (3 Champion Points) – Players can press the movement/stand up skill button (‘Space’ by default) to reset the stand up skill when the character is down on the ground.

Only 3 Champion Points can be held at a time. Players will earn Champion Points as long as they have less than 3 total points accumulated.

Damage Over Time (DoT) Changes

For classes other than Reaper, the damage increase application criteria for DoT granted by skill trees has been changed as follows:

  • DoT granted by skill trees will now be affected by damage increase effects (damage increase from gems, specialization for specific skill types, etc) applied to the corresponding skill.

  • DoT derived from items like Bleed runes will not be affected by skill damage increase effects, as before.

  • The damage increase amount for DoT through skill tree level-ups has been changed as follows:

    • Before: Approximately 30.0% increase to the base skill damage including DoTs

    • After: Approximately 22.0% increase to the base skill damage including DoTs

  • For damage increase effects that increase or decrease damage based on conditions like hitting the target, DoT will not be increased.

    • Examples: Back Attack success, direct hit on center, hitting 5 or more targets, Perfect Zone success/failure, etc.

  • Skill tree options that increase damage for only part of a skill's attacks and not the entire skill will not increase DoT.
