Top review from the United States

Edition: Essential Starter Pack
Let me start by giving some insight. I have been playing Lost Ark for almost 2 years. This has been my experience as someone who is not part of a cohesive guild that assists all the players who are not part of their clique. Lost Ark is not a game for the casual player. Much of your time will be spent on the game, trying to keep up, and trying to complete the tasks you need to earn extra gold, to prevent swiping. Lost Ark did have casual content that was pretty good. They stopped releasing casual content after Punika. Instead most of the content is geared towards juicers, or a means to force swiping to jump up. This makes Lost Ark more of a P2W rather than the F2P that they advertise. It is clearly apparent the development team does not know their customer base, at least in North America. They have lost players in droves, with each major change, more leave. I am sure more join up, but I have seen players who I have grouped with just disappear due to the changes. This game, with it's intricate mechs for dungeons, and progression methods, leads the current player base to be more toxic. The players don't want to spend the time grouping with those who are not as trained, not knowledgable, as they are, and they become toxic when grouped with someone less trained. The mechanics make their playstyle mere robotics, not skill. This is the game you play if you are geared to be one of Pavlov's dogs. The following is my breakdown:

Pros:
* Great graphics - May have been written with Unreal 3, but intense
* Listed as F2P - Much of the game content is free to play, but higher level catch-up could cost you $$$
* Decent content - Immersive storyline, sometimes too immersive
* Varying activities - Mini dungeons, boss kills, adventure islands, and more.

Cons:
* Timed Conent - Only available at certain timeslots
* Raid heavy - Most upper tier content is raid only
* Mechanics heavy - All raids have specific mechanics to perform and it takes a cohesive group to keep pounding away to get it right.
* Unbalanced PvP - Most PvP in the game is unbalanced, and forced to those who are completionist
* Lockouts - Can only play certain content so many times, per character, or even roster
* Tradeskill Gathering - Tradeskill gathering energry, or life energy, is rosterwide. Only so much to use a day, or even week.
* Language Filter - The game may be M17+ but they forcibly censor words. Some of what is censored is actual game content names & words.
* NPC Relations - There is some romance based content, but it can turn out to be Female & Female, or Male & Male, which is OK, if you are into that.
* Female Playable Characters - Most of the playable characters, and classes, are females.
* Randomnization - The game relies heavily on awarding via random number generation. Somtimes it makes the desired rewards almost unobtainable by nesting a RNG reward within a RNG reward.
* Restrictions to Attack Placement - Most of the classes available are back attackers, but their counters are front-facing.
* Enhance Content but Break It - Tendencies to "enhance" content for Quality of Life, but worsens quality of content and rewards
* Changes Are Not Universal - Change content, but remove linked content, and still leave those achievements up, leaving players to wonder if it is still achieveable.
* Lack of Alternate Routes - There is only one clear route to getting iLevel in this game and that is to raid, or swipe your credit card.
* Overcomplication - There is basic iLevel, then gear level was introduced, now Elixers have been introduced to power up gear more, with a very complicated process that took over a page of patch notes
* Limitations on Content - For example, quests have you perform 6 Chaos Dungeons in a week to complete the quest. If you complete those 6 in a week, the next week you won't be able to and reap the rewards of the quirky rest system.
* Expansions Lack Content - The last good expansion was Punika after that they have fallen short. Few zones and activities. Each expansion after Punika can take just a few hours to complete, leaving you wondering what is next, outside of raids.
